EVP Recorders
EVP recorders can be many different types of equipment. Traditionally, cassette tape decks were preferred, but more and more people are reporting success with digital EVP recorders. An external microphone is preferred in EVP recorders because of the mechanical noises that might be picked up with internal microphones. Built in microphones are sensitive and will record these sounds. Digital EVP recorders will not have the same problems with mechanical noise but will benefit from the flexibility of an external microphone.
Want to know how to record EVP? Place one of the EVP recorders in quiet spot and record about 2 minutes of audio. You will not be able to hear the white noise until playback. During playback, listen carefully for vague or distinct voices. If you do not hear any voices, try recording another 2 minutes of audio.
